Trip Summary

The NewLife 2010 mission trip to Mexico will primarily be a work trip to help with the construction project of the Dulce Refugio orphanage located in Aguascalientes, Mexico. We also plan to do some other ministry projects in the community. The projects we do will depend on what kind of talents and interests that our team has. There are a number of things we could do like VBS, sports camp, medical clinic, eye clinic, English class, Biblical teaching, or a prison ministry.

Currently, Dulce Refugio houses approximately forty children in two rented buildings. Their vision has been to own their own facility, complete with a kitchen, dining hall, laundry room, school, gymnasium, and dormitories capable of housing 100 children. In 2006, Dulce Refugio decided to step out in faith and trust God to help them build this campus, even though they didn’t have the necessary resources. Since then, God has provided them with land, money to start building, long term volunteers, and construction teams from various churches.

Travel Details

The trip will be about 9 or 10 days in duration. The tentative dates are June 25 through July 4, 2010. We’ll probably fly from Columbus to Houston and then on to Aguascalientes, Mexico. Total flight time is about 5 hours. While in Mexico, we will most likely be traveling in vans owned by Dulce Refugio.
